MAGNUSON-MOSS ACT & WARRANTY    Posted: 11/7/2007

I hear it again and again "This will Void your Warranty" and or "use this and it won't" Well, there are Laws about this, Federal Law and its pretty clear that both previous statements are very false. A great link on this very important Law is www.mlmlaw.com

Bassically, If you where to Mod you mufflers and install a Powercommander and something went wrong that you took your bike in for warranty work. The service writer could not flat out deny your claim because of these add on parts. First, Its not up to him [ or her ] Its up to corporate, if the affending problem is covered under warranty. The warranty provider would have to prove the added or modified part caused the problem. Now coming in with a blown engine with burn't pistons would be a suspect problem, though faulty fuel would not.

I also hear of and know of Techs not liking certain mods or Fuel Management devices and only working on the bike if they are not present or are removed. Techs are human and it would be best to listen to their advise, but you may want to get a second opinion on recommended service or adjustments. Also know that corporate policy is to not accept any aftermarket mods. It can get very tricky. If you have a favorite Tech. You may want to check with him before proceeding. But its hard to find people that know a lot about the V-rod, let alone know anything!

A lot to do with the Act is stating the warranty is "Full" or "limited" If you have any of these extended warranty's you may want to check on what they cover and what limits they may have.

Idle Problems?    Posted: 5/11/2003

I have posted a copy of a TSB[ Technical Service Bulletin ] on Idle Improvement. If your ride dies at stop lights or idles erratic you may want to check with your Dealer.

Fuel return / pressure problem-THE FIX!    Posted: 3/12/2005

Is your V-Rod stalling? poor performance? Hard to start? You may have the "LEAKING FUEL RETURN LINE FITTING". The Fuel Pump Array in in the same cap that you fill the fuel tank through under the seat. A special tool[ #HD-45324] is required to remove the locking ring on top of the fuel cell. Once the Fuel Pump Array is pulled, a pressed in fitting is replaced with a "Tapped" fitting and clamp. A quick check with a flash light while the bike is running [ thanks Hawg100] . Pull the filler cap while the bike idles, if you see misting or fuel spaying under the filler hole, you've got the loose fitting blues. You Dealer should take care of this under warranty. If not, the fix is simple. Fitting #63533-41a is put in place of the brass piece pressed into the flange. You would need to get the looking ring off [ hard] and a 1/8 npt tap [ easy ]
